2. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Main hazards: Limited evidence
of a carcinogenic effect. Toxic to aquatic organisms,
may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic
environment. Harmful: may cause lung damage
if swallowed.
Repeated exposure may cause
skin dryness or cracking.
Other hazards: It is thought
prudent to assume that the dye in this material
could metabolise to o-aminoazotolulene or o-toluidine,
which have been linked to animal carcinogens
- hence our decision to self-classify this product
as R40.

Skin contact: There may be
irritation and redness with prolonged contact
Eye contact: There may be
irritation and redness.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES (ACTION)
Skin contact: Wash immediately
with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated
clothing, including shoes, and launder before
re-use. Do not take clothing home to be laundered.
Eye contact: Bathe the eye
with running water for 15 minutes. If irritation
persists get medical assistance.
Ingestion: Do not induce
vomiting. Keep at rest. Transfer to hospital
as soon as possible.
Inhalation: Remove casualty
from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst
doing so. If conscious, ensure the casualty
sits or lies down. If unconscious, check for
breathing and apply artificial respiration if
necessary. Transfer to hospital as soon as possible.
5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing media: Dry
chemical powder. Foam. Water spray. Use water
spray to cool surfaces exposed to fire and protect
personnel.
Exposure hazards: Containers
may explode if exposed to fire.
Protection of fire-fighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear
protective clothing to prevent contact with
skin and eyes.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions: Eliminate
all sources of ignition. Do not attempt to take
action without suitable protective clothing
- see section 8 of SDS. If exposed to material
during clean-up operations, see Section 4, First
Aid Measures, for actions to follow.
Environmental precautions:
Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Contain
the spillage using bunding.
Clean-up procedures: Absorb
into dry earth or sand. Use absorbant granules
as required. Transfer to a closable, labelled
salvage container for disposal by an appropriate
method.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling requirements: Smoking
is forbidden. Do not use near sources of ignition.
Use good hygenic practice and housekeeping methods.
Prevent skin contact with use of neoprene or
similar chemical resistant gloves. Wear overalls
and safety glasses or other similar eye protection.
Avoid breathing vapours, use product only in
well ventilated areas. Wash after handling.
Storage conditions: Store
in cool, well ventilated area. Keep away from
sources of ignition. Keep away from direct sunlight.
Store in dry conditions.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL
PROTECTION

LIGHT WEL (8 hr TWA): 1000mg/m3 (manufacture)
• CO2 WEL (8 hr TWA): 5000ppm
WEL (15 min STEL): 15000ppm
• AUTOMATE (TM) RED IK HF
LIQUID DYEWEL (8 hr TWA): 0.14mg/m3 WEL (15
min STEL): 0.42mg/m3
Engineering measures: Ensure
there is sufficient ventilation of the area.
Respiratory protection:
Respiratory protection should not be necessary
during normal use. In confined areas, or where
misting is likely, use appropriate respiratory
protection
Hand protection: Neoprene
gloves. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that
gloves should be changed frequently. Gloves
should be removed and replaced immediately if
there is any indication of degradation or chemical
breakthrough. Wash off hands/skin with mild
soap and water immediately if contamination
occurs and after use.
Eye protection: Approved
safety glasses/goggles are recommended.
Skin protection: Long sleeved
overalls are recommended and impervious aprons

Hazardous ingredients: AUTOMATE
(TM) RED IK HF LIQUID DYE SKN
Chronic toxicity: Frequent
or prolonged contact may irritate and cause
skin dryness, cracking and dermatitis.
NOTE: Metabolic studies
on some azo dyes have detected reduction of
azo bonds to aromatic amines. It is prudent
to assume it possible that the dye could metabolise
to o-aminoazotolulene or o-toluidine, which
have been linked to animal carcinogens.
Routes of exposure: Refer
to section 4 of SDS for routes of exposure and
corresponding symptoms.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
